Sustainability and pallets: Making change for the long haul

[I’m here to share a GreenBiz article on ‘the lowly shipping pallet’ which I wrote in conjunction with Adam Pener, of Green Ox Pallet Technology, back in 2017.]

For some context, Change the Pallet, a national nonprofit disrupting the wood pallet monopoly, released a letter in 2018 signed by 15 universities, ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, the Assoc. for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, and endorsed by Army logisticians and myself, Roger Ballentine. Lightweight corrugated cardboard pallets reduce shipping weight, and thus fuel emissions; are fully recyclable; and are safer for workers.
